How to Turn Google’s Eyes towards Your Content

onpagefactors_checklistDon’t just infuse raw content in your pages and wait for Google’s crawlers to rank high your site.

The alternative consists in adjusting some key elements, here and there and cut short  your efforts expenditure. IF you’re  tacling SEO practices you most definetly heard of OnPage Factors. See if you agree with me for each of these factors:

The Title, or Title tag. After all the studies and split-testing,  the title tag or title page remains one of the most important onpage factors. This is because the title tends to say what’s a page all about. When you build a title you should consider starting with the dominant keyword you’re targeting and, preferable, end with your brandname. By doing so the keyword is scanned first by the SE bots and it’s put in direct relation with the brand you’re promoting or just developing. I suggest using ” | “, or pipe, between the these two, as it’s perceived by the SEs to be a very good.  For a live example, look above to my own page title. Remember, it’s not just about ranking high in the organic listings, it’s about ranking high with a title which will be the link in the organic listings that is someting that people want to click on. So, build your tile to have a natural flow in spelling, sense and logic. Limit your title to 65 max 70 characters long.

Keywords density. I’ve included this issue because I know many wonder what’s the proper percentage of  keywords within a post/article. My opinion is that you should just build up your valuable content and pay little or no attention at all to keywords density. This is especially valid today, when LSI terms are having a greater impact upon search engine optimization process.

Meta keywords & meta description. I suggest using both keywords and LSI words, and limit the numer to 7, max 9 such terms. About meta description, make it look natural, use the keyword once and sprinkle in 2 or 3 LSI words related to your theme and don’t cross the 160 characters limit. Make a short overview of the content.

Start at least once sentence with the target key word or phrase. Doesn’t have to be the first sentence of  content.

Use H1, H2, H3 tags, but not all of them.

Surround your target keywords with LSI.

Emphasize your target phrase/key term(s) with Bold or Italics. Resume it to once.

Use image filenames as targeted keywords or key phrases.

Follow the nature of the web – connection. Link out to other trusted sites and use for this linking LSI words or key words and phrases, as anchor text. But, don’t isolate them, but disperse them throughout the content.
