How to Write Efficient Articles. 4 Key Elements You Should Consider

In the following lines I’ll make a fine dissection of the article’s body traits that make your article more of traffic-generator tool.

First, let’s take a look of what are those traits we must have in attention:

  • Body Lenght
  • Body Layout
  • General Tone
  • Keyword Density

in the end… Two Rulles you absolutely must comply with.

Now, absorb what I have to say about each one.

1. Body Lenght

The article’s body must contain between 300 to a max. of 600 characters. Taking in consideration that te average reader loses his focus quite easy when searching the web, the ideal lenght is around 300 to 400 charaters.

If you know your way with words and believe you can anchor the reader’s attention for more than 600 characters in lenght content, you probably should consider passing this border.

Either way, limiting your article to 400 characters is a proven strategy to use. Simply ensure 100 charaters for your intro, another 100 for the conclusions and the rest make it your brute content.

2. Body Layout

Depending on the lenght of the content, you have couple of combinations to use:

  • either you split the content betwen short paragraphs OR sandwich your bulleted ideas between the intro and the conclusions – works best for short articles (up to 300 characters);
  • use (bolded) sub-headlines or sections combined with bulleted ideas to better structure relatively large content (up to 500 characters);
  • use short, easy to read paragraphs, if you want to keep your content as clean as possible. Large contents (up to 600 characters or bigger) are best organized in 3-4 shorter paragraphs.

3. General Tone

Reader’s experience with your content is the most important thing to consider when writing your article. As informative or technical as it may be, you simply don’t want your reader to feel like reading a science course.

Make your content perfom like an incentive for the reader, engaging him in intelligent thought processes.

4. Keyword Density

Althought, I’ve included it, I simply don’t consider this trait as an essential element which needs closely adjustment.

I consider that writing the article in a natural way, for the reader and not for the search engines you’ll do just fine with your article.

For the sake of sweet metrics I’ll borrow a opinion and use a keyword density of 2-4%.

Time for the rulles…

  • Pay close, close attention to your spelling and grammar. Disregarding this simple aspect will badly harm the professionalism you intend to embed your article with.
  • Informative as it may be, don’t over deliver. Your main purpose  is drive traffic to that link in the resource box.  Keep a good chunk of information for when your reader takes the desired action and clicks on the link in the bottom. Just arouse and entertain his curiosity. That’s it.

If you kept reading until this line, I’ll over deliver a little bit (…) and make a few lines about the resource box.

If you need a reminder, a resource box is where the author generally makes a quick note about himself and posts a link to his own webpage or any affiliate pages he promotes.

This little piece is almost as important as the entire body text above. The reason is obvious.

Now, if you intend in stuffing your resource box with a short Bio of yours, you’re heading for trouble with your traffic generation. Because the reader isn’t interested about your business, your hobbies, your education, how money you make or where you live. In the end of any article the natural question anyone has in mind is:, So, what I’ll GET if I click this link? Remember! The reader doesn’t want to “find out more about…”, but he does want to “get …(stuff)”
